The rumor of Guns N' Roses closing out the night came true, as did talk of the network giving the band eight minutes to perform. Debuting new guitarist, Richard Fortus, Axl Rose -– sounding a bit weak at first, but finding his groove toward the middle -– and his new Gunners performed "Welcome to the Jungle," "Madagascar," and "Paradise City."

Host Jimmy Fallon was consistently funny from his opening skit, which parodied Eminem, the White Stripes, Avril Lavigne, Dave Matthews, and most uncomfortably, Enrique Iglesias, whose mole was fully mocked, through his closing introduction of "Guns N' F*&#ing Roses."
